For my Instruments, I prefer wood from local forests.

Because there is little trust anymore in global companies, we have to be very careful when using tropical wood, which is mostly illegal, even when it is ‘certified.’

I am absolutely aware that there are Luthier traditions in using tropical woods. Sometimes it’s a must, especially in guitar-making. I really like working with tropical woods and always have some in stock but I really enjoy it when customers ask for local timber or ‘no problem woods.’

Most of the timber I work with comes out of Swiss or European forests. From US/Canada, I mostly use American Walnut, Sycamore and special  kinds of Spruce. Even these imported goods need a declaration
